Caledonian Hotel, Dumfries

I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The rooms were decent but in need of some updates, while the service was fantastic. The location was convenient for my needs but a bit lacking in dining options. The dining experience left something to be desired with limited breakfast choices.

My stay at the hotel was overall pleasant. The rooms were clean and well-appointed although overlooking the front car park brought in some unwanted smoke that we had to close the windows for. The spacious room accommodated our group of six adults comfortably during our cycling trip from Lands End to John O Groats.

The hotel offers nice and clean rooms with all necessary amenities available. However, noise from the disco could be bothersome. The shower room was spacious and perfect for disabled guests, but the staff could be more attentive. Overall, a decent choice for the price.

The hotel is situated in a mainly residential area on one of the main approach roads to the town center, offering convenient access to Dumfries and its delights. The rooms, although a little dated with old dark furniture, are basic, clean, and functional. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the stay memorable. However, the bathroom in need of refurbishment leads to a wet floor after showering.
